युष्माकम् तु बलम् ज्ञातम् बहुशो रण मूर्धनि ।
अतः तु अस्मिन् जनस्थाने मया यूयम् नियोजिताः ॥ ॥३-५४-२८॥
yuṣmākam tu balam jñātam bahuśo raṇa mūrdhani । ataḥ tu asmin janasthāne mayā yūyam niyojitāḥ ॥ ॥3-54-28॥
Translation
Your strength has been known to me many times at the forefront of battle. Therefore, you have been appointed by me to this Janasthana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध के अग्रभाग (मोर्चे) पर मैंने कई बार तुम लोगों का बल देखा है (मुझे ज्ञात है)। इसीलिए मैंने तुम्हें इस जनस्थान में नियुक्त किया है।
English Commentary
Ravana acts as a motivating commander here. He validates his choice of soldiers by acknowledging their past performance raṇa mūrdhani (at the head of the battle). By stating that he has personally witnessed their strength, he instills a sense of pride and duty in them. They are not being sent to their deaths as cannon fodder; they are being deployed as elite operatives because of their proven track record. This justification—"Therefore (ataḥ tu) you are appointed"—is designed to cement their loyalty and courage before they depart for a region known to be a graveyard for their kind.

एक कुशल सेनापति की भांति, रावण अपने सैनिकों को विदा करने से पहले उनका मनोबल बढ़ाता है। वह उन्हें याद दिलाता है कि उनका चयन यादृच्छिक (random) नहीं है, बल्कि उनकी पिछली वीरता और 'रण मूर्धनि' (युद्ध के मोर्चे) पर दिखाए गए कौशल पर आधारित है। यह सैनिकों में गर्व और जिम्मेदारी का भाव भरता है। रावण उन्हें यह महसूस कराता है कि वे 'विशिष्ट' (elite) हैं, जो जनस्थान जैसे खतरनाक मिशन के योग्य हैं। यह श्लोक रावण की प्रशासनिक क्षमता को दर्शाता है—वह केवल आदेश नहीं देता, बल्कि अपने अधीनस्थों को यह भी समझाता है कि वे उस कार्य के लिए उपयुक्त क्यों हैं, जिससे उनकी वफादारी सुनिश्चित होती है।
