Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मुमोच यदि रामाय शंसेयुः इति भामिनी ।
वस्त्रम् उत्सृज्य तन् मध्य विनिक्षिप्तम् स भूषणम् ॥ ॥३-५४-३॥
Mumoca yadi rāmāya śaṃseyuḥ iti bhāminī । Vastram utsṛjya tan madhye vinikṣiptam sa bhūṣaṇam ॥ ॥3-54-3॥
Translation
"Perhaps they might tell Rama of me," thinking this, the spirited lady (Bhamini) took off her upper garment, tied her ornaments in it, and dropped it into their midst.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"कदाचित् ये श्रीराम को मेरी सूचना दे सकें," यह सोचकर उस भामिनी (क्रोध और तेज से युक्त सीता) ने आभूषणों से बंधा हुआ अपना वह (पीला) वस्त्र उन वानरों के बीच में नीचे गिरा दिया।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Sita’s extraordinary resilience and tactical intelligence. Even while being abducted, she does not succumb entirely to despair. The use of the word Bhamini (a spirited, radiant woman) suggests she retains her agency. She strategically bundles her jewelry in her garment to create a heavier object that falls precisely where she intends—among the Vanaras. She operates on the hope ("Yadi" - if/perhaps) that these creatures might communicate her fate to Rama. This single act serves as the pivotal link between the kidnapping and the eventual alliance with Sugriva.

यह श्लोक माता सीता की 'प्रत्युत्पन्नमति' (presence of mind) का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। घोर संकट और शोक के क्षणों में भी उन्होंने हार नहीं मानी। 'भामिनी' शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ विशेष है—इसका अर्थ है एक ऐसी स्त्री जो तेजस्वी और स्वाभिमानी है। उन्होंने केवल विलाप नहीं किया, बल्कि भविष्य के लिए एक 'सूत्र' (clue) छोड़ दिया। उन्हें विश्वास था कि वानर, जो मानवों से भिन्न हैं, इस असामान्य घटना को देखेंगे और यदि राम उधर आए, तो यह पोटली उन्हें मार्ग दिखाएगी। यह कृत्य रामकथा को आगे बढ़ाने वाली सबसे महत्वपूर्ण कड़ी है।
