यत् इदम् राज्य तंत्रम् मे त्वयि सर्वम् प्रतिष्ठितम् ।
जीवितम् च विशालाक्षि त्वम् मे प्राणैः गरीयसी ॥ ॥३-५५-१६॥
yat idam rājya tantram me tvayi sarvam pratiṣṭhitam । jīvitam ca viśālākṣi tvam me prāṇaiḥ garīyasī ॥ ॥3-55-16॥
Translation
This entire administration of my kingdom is established in you (I surrender it to you). And my life too, O large-eyed one; you are dearer to me than my vital breaths.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरा यह जो भी राज्य-तंत्र (शासन/ऐश्वर्य) है, वह सब तुम में ही प्रतिष्ठित है (मैं सब तुम्हें सौंपता हूँ)। हे विशालाक्षी (बड़ी आँखों वाली)! मेरा जीवन भी तुम्हारे अधीन है, तुम मुझे प्राणों से भी अधिक प्यारी हो।
English Commentary
This is the core of Ravana's proposal. He offers total surrender of his political and personal life. By saying his rājya tantram (state machinery/governance) rests in her, he is offering her de facto rule over Lanka. He adds an emotional plea, calling her viśālākṣi (large-eyed one) and declaring her dearer than his own life (prāṇaiḥ garīyasī). It is a desperate bid: the conqueror of the three worlds is begging to be conquered by her. He hopes that the combination of absolute power (the kingdom) and absolute devotion (his life) will be irresistible.

यहाँ रावण अपना सब कुछ सीता के चरणों में समर्पित करने का प्रस्ताव रखता है। 'राज्य तंत्रम्' (शासन व्यवस्था) को सीता में प्रतिष्ठित करने का अर्थ है कि वह उसे 'पटरानी' बनाकर लंका की वास्तविक शासिका बनाने को तैयार है। वह 'विशालाक्षि' (बड़ी और सुंदर आँखों वाली) संबोधन का प्रयोग कर उसकी सुंदरता की प्रशंसा करता है। 'त्वम् मे प्राणैः गरीयसी' (तुम प्राणों से बढ़कर हो) कहकर वह भावनात्मक रूप से उसे ब्लैकमेल करने की कोशिश करता है। एक अहंकारी राजा का यह समर्पण बहुत बड़ा दांव है; वह अपनी संप्रभुता (sovereignty) को प्रेम के बदले गिरवी रख रहा है।
