त्रयाणाम् अपि लोकानाम् न तम् पश्यामि शोभने ।
विक्रमेण नयेत् यः त्वाम् मत् बाहु परिपालिताम् ॥ ॥३-५५-२५॥
Trayāṇām api lokānām na tam paśyāmi śobhane । Vikrameṇa nayet yaḥ tvām mat bāhu paripālitām ॥ ॥3-55-25॥
Translation
O beautiful one, even in the three worlds, I do not see anyone who can take you away by valor while you are protected by my arms.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे शोभने! तीनों लोकों में भी मैं ऐसे किसी (वीर) को नहीं देखता जो मेरी भुजाओं द्वारा सुरक्षित (बंदी बनाई गई) तुम्हें अपने पराक्रम से ले जा सके।
English Commentary
Ravana issues a universal challenge, asserting that no one in the "three worlds" (heaven, earth, and the underworld) possesses the valor to wrestle Sita from his custody. By using the phrase "mat bahu paripalitam" (protected/guarded by my arms), he emphasizes his physical domination and possessiveness over her. This verse encapsulates Ravana's worldview: might makes right. He relies on his past track record of defeating celestial beings to predict the future, assuming that since no one has defeated him, no one can. He dismisses Rama implicitly by broadening the scope to the entire universe, suggesting that if even gods cannot defeat him, a mere human stands no chance. This declaration sets the stage for the epic conflict, as it frames the upcoming battle not just as a skirmish, but as a test of whether Adharma (represented by Ravana's arms) can hold captive the Divine Energy (Sita) against the will of Dharma.
