Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स सौमित्रिः स्वरम् श्रुत्वा ताम् च हित्वा अथ मैथिलीम् ।
तया एव प्रहितः क्षिप्रम् मत् सकाशम् इह एष्यति ॥३-५७-६॥
Sa saumitriḥ svaram śrutvā tām ca hitvā atha maithilīm । Tayā eva prahitaḥ kṣipram mat sakāśam iha eṣyati ॥ ॥3-57-6॥
Translation
"...then that son of Sumitra (Lakshmana), hearing the voice and leaving Maithili, urged by her, will surely come here to me quickly."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"...तो वह सुमित्रानंदन (लक्ष्मण) स्वर सुनकर और मैथिली को छोड़कर, उन्हीं (सीता) के द्वारा भेजे जाने पर, शीघ्र ही मेरे पास यहाँ आ रहे होंगे।"
English Commentary
Rama accurately predicts the chain of events. He knows Sita's love renders her incapable of inaction if she thinks he is in danger, and he knows Lakshmana would eventually yield to her insistence ("taya eva prahitah" - sent by her alone). He foresees that Sita is now alone and unprotected because Lakshmana is likely rushing towards him. This realization heightens the tragedy—the trick worked exactly as the demons planned.

राम सीता और लक्ष्मण दोनों के स्वभाव को जानते हैं। वह जानते हैं कि सीता पति-संकट की आवाज़ सुनकर लक्ष्मण को जाने के लिए विवश कर देंगी ('तया एव प्रहितः' - उनके द्वारा ही भेजे जाने पर), और लक्ष्मण सीता की आज्ञा (या कटु वचनों के दबाव) को टाल नहीं पाएंगे। राम का यह अनुमान शत-प्रतिशत सही सिद्ध होता है। वह उस अनिष्ट को अपनी आँखों के सामने घटित होते हुए देख रहे हैं जो अभी उनके ज्ञान में नहीं है।
