पतित्वम् अमराणाम् वा पृथिव्याः च अपि लक्ष्मण ।
विना ताम् तपनीय आभाम् न इच्छेयम् जनक आत्मजाम् ॥३-५८-५॥
patitvam amarāṇām vā pṛthivyāḥ ca api lakṣmaṇa |
vinā tām tapanīyābhām na iccheyam janakātmajām ॥3-58-5॥
Translation
Or even the lordship of the immortals, or of the earth, O Lakshmana—without that daughter of Janaka who shines like burnished gold, I do not desire them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे लक्ष्मण! उस तपाये हुए सोने जैसी आभा वाली जनकनन्दिनी के बिना मैं देवताओं के स्वामित्व (इन्द्रपद) को या पृथ्वी के राज्य को भी नहीं चाहता।
English Commentary
Rama establishes a hierarchy of values where Sita supersedes all power. He rejects the lordship over gods (Indra's position) and the sovereignty of the earth if it comes without Sita. The descriptor 'tapaniya-abham' (glowing like refined gold) evokes her radiance and purity. Having already renounced Ayodhya's throne for truth (dharma), he now declares that even universal dominion is meaningless without his wife. This underscores the theme that for Rama, the personal bond with Sita is the essence of his happiness, rendering all external glories hollow in her absence.

श्रीराम यहाँ मूल्यों का एक स्पष्ट पदानुक्रम स्थापित करते हैं। एक ओर त्रिलोक का साम्राज्य है, और दूसरी ओर सीता। सीता के अभाव में वे स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी दोनों के राज्य को अस्वीकार करते हैं। 'तपनीय-आभाम्' (तपाये हुए कुंदन जैसी कांति वाली) विशेषण सीता की पवित्रता और सौंदर्य दोनों को दर्शाता है। श्रीराम ने पहले पितृ-आज्ञा के लिए अयोध्या का राज्य त्यागा था, अब वे प्रेम के लिए ब्रह्मांडीय सत्ता को भी तुच्छ बता रहे हैं। यह श्लोक सिद्ध करता है कि राम के लिए संबंध और प्रेम, सत्ता और शक्ति से बढ़कर हैं।
