सर्वथा तु अपनीतम् ते सीतया यत् प्रचोदितः ।
क्रोधस्य वशम् आगम्य न अकरोः शासनम् मम ॥ ॥३-५९-२४॥
Sarvathā tu apanītam te sītayā yat pracoditaḥ । Krodhasya vaśam āgamya na akaroḥ śāsanam mama ॥ ॥3-59-24॥
Translation
"Urged by Sita, you have acted completely imprudently. Falling under the sway of anger, you did not carry out my command."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"सीता द्वारा प्रेरित होकर तुमने सर्वथा अनुचित (अपनीतम्) किया। तुमने क्रोध के वशीभूत होकर मेरे आदेश (शासन) का पालन नहीं किया।"
English Commentary
Rama concludes his reprimand by categorizing Lakshmana’s action as apanītam (imprudent/poor policy) in every way (sarvathā). He identifies the root cause: Lakshmana allowed himself to be goaded by Sita and fell prey to his own anger (krodhasya vaśam). In doing so, he violated Rama's śāsanam (command/governance). This verse reinforces the military hierarchy and the code of dharma; the explicit order of the superior (Rama) to protect Sita should have been absolute, impervious to the emotional manipulation or insults of the protectee. Lakshmana’s lapse in discipline paved the way for the tragedy.

इस सर्ग के अंतिम श्लोक में राम लक्ष्मण के कृत्य को 'अपनीतम्' (नीति विरुद्ध/अनुचित) बताते हैं। राम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि लक्ष्मण की विफलता के दो कारण थे: पहला, सीता के उकसावे में आना ('सीतया प्रचोदितः'), और दूसरा, स्वयं के क्रोध पर नियंत्रण खोना ('क्रोधस्य वशम् आगम्य')। राम का 'शासन' (आदेश) था सीता की रक्षा करना। लक्ष्मण ने भावावेश में आकर उस सर्वोच्च आदेश का उल्लंघन किया। यह श्लोक सिखाता है कि परिस्थितियाँ चाहे कितनी भी विपरीत या अपमानजनक क्यों न हों, अपने प्रधान कर्तव्य (Commander's order) से विमुख होना विनाशकारी होता है।
