असौ हि राक्षसः शेते शरेण अभिहतो मया ।
मृग रूपेण येन अहम् आश्रमात् अपवाहितः ॥ ॥३-५९-२५॥
Asau hi rākṣasaḥ śete śareṇa abhihato mayā |
Mṛga rūpeṇa yena aham āśramāt apavāhitaḥ ॥3-59-25॥
Translation
That demon lies there, killed by my arrow—the very one who, assuming the form of a deer, lured me away from the hermitage.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह राक्षस मेरे बाण से मारा जाकर (पृथ्वी पर) सो रहा है, जिसने मृग का रूप धरकर मुझे आश्रम से दूर हटा दिया था।
English Commentary
In this verse, Sri Rama reveals the reality of the golden deer to Lakshmana. He confirms that the creature was indeed a demon in disguise, now lying dead ('shete') by his arrow. The phrase 'apavāhitaḥ' (carried away or lured away) is significant; it acknowledges that Rama was maneuvered out of his position of strength at the hermitage through deception. This moment marks the shattering of the illusion. Rama realizes that the distraction was tactical, intended solely to leave Sita unprotected. The clarity of hindsight brings with it a surge of dread, as the success of the demon's plan implies an imminent danger to Sita, now that both guardians are absent from the ashram.

इस श्लोक में श्रीराम लक्ष्मण को मारीच के कपट का सत्य बता रहे हैं। श्रीराम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वह स्वर्ण-मृग कोई साधारण प्राणी नहीं, बल्कि मायावी राक्षस था। 'शेते' (सो रहा है) शब्द का प्रयोग यह दर्शाता है कि श्रीराम ने उसका अंत कर दिया है। यहाँ श्रीराम के मन में एक गहरा पश्चाताप और चिंता का भाव भी छिपा है, क्योंकि उन्हें आभास हो गया है कि उन्हें आश्रम से दूर ले जाना एक सुनियोजित षड्यंत्र था। 'अपवाहितः' शब्द यह सूचित करता है कि श्रीराम को धोखे से, उनकी इच्छा के विरुद्ध या परिस्थिति वश दूर ले जाया गया। अब जब लक्ष्मण भी वहां आ गए हैं, तो श्रीराम समझ गए हैं कि सीता जी आश्रम में अकेली और असुरक्षित हैं, जो इस षड्यंत्र का मूल उद्देश्य था।
