एहि पश्य शरीराणि मुनीनाम् भावित आत्मनाम् ।
हतानाम् राक्षसैः घोरैः बहूनाम् बहुधा वने ॥ ॥३-६-१६॥
ehi paśya śarīrāṇi munīnām bhāvita ātmanām । hatānām rākṣasaiḥ ghoraiḥ bahūnām bahudhā vane ॥ ॥3-6-16॥
Translation
Come and see the bodies of the sages of purified souls, who have been killed in various ways by the terrible Rakshasas in the forest.

आइए और वन में घोर राक्षसों द्वारा अनेक प्रकार से मारे गए, पवित्र अंतरात्मा वाले अनेकों मुनियों के शरीरों (कंकालों/शवों) को देखिए।
English Commentary
Moving beyond rhetoric, the sages invite Rama to witness the grim reality: ehi paśya (come and see). This visual evidence is intended to shock Rama into action. Describing the victims as bhavita atmanam (purified souls) underscores the tragedy—these were holy men, not combatants. The use of bahudha (in various ways) is chilling; it implies torture, mutilation, and desecration, suggesting that the Rakshasas did not just kill the sages but hunted them with sadistic cruelty.

अब ऋषि केवल बात नहीं कर रहे, वे प्रमाण प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं। 'एहि पश्य' (आओ और देखो) एक प्रत्यक्ष निमंत्रण है। ऋषियों के क्षत-विक्षत शरीरों का दर्शन राम के भीतर के क्रोध और करुणा को जगाने के लिए पर्याप्त है। 'भावित आत्मनाम्' बताता है कि मरने वाले कोई साधारण लोग नहीं, बल्कि सिद्ध आत्माएं थीं। 'बहुधा' (अनेक प्रकार से) शब्द यह संकेत देता है कि राक्षसों ने उन्हें सामान्य मृत्यु नहीं दी, बल्कि तड़पा-तड़पा कर या अंगों को काट-काट कर क्रूरतापूर्वक मारा है।
