तपस्विनाम् रणे शत्रून् हन्तुम् इच्छामि राक्षसान् ।
पश्यन्तु वीर्यम् ऋषयः सः ब्रातुर् मे तपोधनाः ॥ ॥३-६-२५॥
Tapasvinām raṇe śatrūn hantum icchāmi rākṣasān |
Paśyantu vīryam ṛṣayaḥ saḥ brātur me tapodhanāḥ ॥3-6-25॥
Translation
I wish to kill the Rakshasas, the enemies of the ascetics, in battle. O Sages rich in austerity, may you witness my valor and that of my brother.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं तपस्वियों के शत्रु राक्षसों को युद्ध में मारना चाहता हूँ। हे तपोधन ऋषियों! आप सब मेरे और मेरे भाई (लक्ष्मण) के पराक्रम को देखें।
English Commentary
This is a declaration of war against the evil forces. Rama explicitly states his intent to kill (Hantum) the enemies. He invites the sages to witness (Pashyantu) this display of martial power, transforming them from helpless victims into spectators of justice. By mentioning his brother, he assures them of a united front. The contrast is drawn between the Tapodhana (wealth of austerity) of the sages and the Virya (valor) of the Kshatriya; the latter exists to protect the former.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्रीराम की 'प्रतिज्ञा' का श्लोक है। 'हन्तुम् इच्छामि' (मैं मारना चाहता हूँ) कहकर वे अपनी मंशा स्पष्ट कर देते हैं। वे ऋषियों को केवल आश्वासन नहीं देते, बल्कि उन्हें साक्षी बनने के लिए कहते हैं ('पश्यन्तु' - देखें)। यहाँ वे लक्ष्मण को भी अपने साथ सम्मिलित करते हैं, जो दर्शाता है कि धर्म रक्षा के इस कार्य में दोनों भाई एक साथ हैं। ऋषियों को 'तपोधनाः' कहकर श्रीराम यह बताते हैं कि ऋषियों का धन 'तप' है, जबकि क्षत्रिय का धन 'वीर्य' (पराक्रम) है, और वे अपने धन से ऋषियों के धन की रक्षा करेंगे।
