सा हि चंपक वर्ण आभा ग्रीवा ग्रैवेयक उचिता ।
कोमला विलपन्त्याः तु कान्ताया भक्षिता शुभा ॥ ॥३-६०-३२॥
Sā hi campaka varṇa ābhā grīvā graiveyaka ucitā |
Komalā vilapantyāḥ tu kāntāyā bhakṣitā śubhā ॥3-60-32॥
Translation
Indeed, that neck, glowing with the color of the Champaka flower, deserving of necklaces, soft and beautiful, belonging to my beloved, has been eaten even as she was weeping.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह चंपक पुष्प के समान आभा वाली, गले के आभूषणों (हार) के योग्य, मेरी कांता की कोमल और सुंदर गर्दन, विलाप करते समय ही (राक्षसों द्वारा) खा ली गई होगी।
English Commentary
Focusing on her neck, Rama describes it as having the glow of the Champaka flower (golden-yellow) and deserving of fine jewelry (graiveyaka). The tragedy is heightened by the contrast between her delicate neck (komala) and the brutality of being eaten. The word vilapantyah (while she was weeping) adds a sonic dimension to his nightmare—he imagines her crying out for help at the very moment of her death.

राम विशेष रूप से सीता की ग्रीवा (गर्दन) को याद करते हैं। उसकी उपमा 'चंपक वर्ण' (सुनहरी/पीली आभा) से दी गई है। 'ग्रैवेयक उचिता' का अर्थ है कि वह गर्दन जो सुंदर हार पहनने के योग्य थी, उसे राक्षसों ने काट दिया होगा। सबसे दुखद कल्पना यह है कि 'विलपन्त्याः'—जब वह रो रही होगी और पुकार रही होगी, तभी उसे मार दिया गया होगा। यह विचार राम के हृदय को विदीर्ण कर देता है।
