Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इति एवम् विलपन् रामः परिधावन् वनात् वनम् ।
क्वचित् उद् भ्रमते वेगात् क्वचित् विभ्रमते बलात् ॥३-६०-३६॥
Iti evam vilapan rāmaḥ paridhāvan vanāt vanam |
Kvacit ud bhramate vegāt kvacit vibhramate balāt ॥3-60-36॥
Translation
Lamenting in this manner, Rama ran from forest to forest. Sometimes he spins around (or jumps up) with speed, and sometimes he wanders aimlessly, overcome by the force [of grief].

इस प्रकार विलाप करते हुए राम एक वन से दूसरे वन में दौड़ रहे हैं। कभी वे वेग से उछलते हैं (या पागलपन में चक्कर काटते हैं) और कभी शक्ति क्षीण होने पर लड़खड़ाते हुए भटकते हैं।
English Commentary
Rama's physical agitation mirrors his internal chaos. The verbs udbhramate (spinning/jumping) and vibhramate (wandering/stumbling) depict a lack of coordination and control driven by the force (balat) of his grief. He runs aimlessly from forest to forest, signifying a desperate, frantic energy that has no direction. This behavior is characteristic of the Unmada (madness) stage in the rasas of separation.

राम की शारीरिक क्रियाएँ उनकी मानसिक अस्थिरता का दर्पण बन गई हैं। 'उद्भ्रमते' और 'विभ्रमते' क्रियाएँ उनकी बेचैनी को दर्शाती हैं। वे स्थिर नहीं रह पा रहे हैं। उनका एक वन से दूसरे वन में भागना ('परिधावन्') यह दिखाता है कि उनका विवेक काम नहीं कर रहा है; वे बस अपनी पीड़ा से भागने या उसे खोजने का निरर्थक प्रयास कर रहे हैं। यह वियोग की 'उन्माद' अवस्था का शारीरिक चित्रण है।
