दृष्ट्वा आश्रम पदम् शून्यम् रामो दशरथ आत्मजः।
रहिताम् पर्णशालाम् च प्रविद्धानि आसनानि च ॥३-६१-१॥
Dṛṣṭvā āśrama padam śūnyam rāmo daśaratha ātmajaḥ|
Rahitām parṇaśālāṁ ca praviddhāni āsanāni ca ॥3-61-1॥
Translation
Rama, the son of Dasharatha, saw the hermitage site empty. The leaf-hut was devoid [of Sita], and the seats were scattered about.

दशरथपुत्र राम ने आश्रम को सूना देखा। पर्णशाला (कुटिया) सीता से रहित थी और वहाँ रखे हुए आसन (चटाइयां/कुश) इधर-उधर बिखरे पड़े थे।
English Commentary
Sarga 61 begins with Rama returning to the scene of the crime. The imagery of praviddhani asanani (scattered seats/mats) is significant—it serves as forensic evidence of a struggle or hasty disruption, disturbing the usual order of the hermitage. The emptiness (shunyam) of the leaf-hut strikes Rama with renewed force, grounding his earlier frantic searching back to the harsh reality of her absence at home.

६१वें सर्ग के आरम्भ में राम वन में भटकने के बाद पुनः अपनी कुटिया (पर्णशाला) में लौटते हैं। दृश्य अत्यंत उदास है। 'प्रविद्धानि आसनानि' (बिखरे हुए आसन) यह संकेत देते हैं कि सीता का अपहरण शांतिपूर्ण नहीं था; वहाँ संघर्ष या घबराहट में चीजें उथल-पुथल हुई होंगी। 'दशरथ आत्मजः' विशेषण का प्रयोग शायद उनकी राजसी पृष्ठभूमि और वर्तमान वनवासी कष्ट के विरोधाभास को याद दिदाने के लिए किया गया है।
