मा विषादम् महाबुद्धे कुरु यत्नम् मया सह ।
इदम् गिरि वरम् वीर बहु कन्दर शोभितम् ॥३-६१-१४॥
Mā viṣādam mahābuddhe kuru yatnam mayā saha |
Idam giri varam vīra bahu kandara śobhitam ॥3-61-14॥
Translation
"Do not despair, O one of great intellect! Make an effort along with me. O hero, this excellent mountain is adorned with many caves."

(लक्ष्मण बोले) "हे महाबुद्धिमान! विषाद (दुख) मत करो। मेरे साथ मिलकर प्रयत्न करो। हे वीर! यह श्रेष्ठ पर्वत बहुत सी कंदराओं (गुफाओं) से सुशोभित है।"
English Commentary
Lakshmana addresses Rama as mahabuddhe (greatly intelligent one), appealing to his rational mind to override his emotions. He urges action (yatnam kuru) over despair (vishadam). Lakshmana shifts the focus from internal grief to external geography—pointing out the kandara (caves) of the mountain. He acts as the grounded anchor, suggesting logical places where Sita might be found, trying to re-engage Rama’s agency.

लक्ष्मण राम को 'महाबुद्धे' (महान बुद्धि वाले) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं। वे राम को याद दिला रहे हैं कि वे केवल भावुक प्रेमी नहीं, बल्कि ज्ञानी पुरुष हैं। लक्ष्मण का दृष्टिकोण व्यावहारिक (pragmatic) है। वे राम को निष्क्रिय विलाप से हटाकर 'यत्न' (प्रयत्न/कर्म) की ओर ले जाना चाहते हैं। वे संभावना जताते हैं कि सीता शायद पास ही की किसी गुफा में हों, इसलिए अभी हार मानने का समय नहीं है।
