Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अपूरयित्वा तम् कालम् मत् सकाशम् इह आगतः ।
काम वृत्तम् अनार्यम् माम् मृषा वादिनम् एव च ॥३-६१-८॥
Apūrayitvā tam kālam mat sakāśam iha āgataḥ |
Kāma vṛttam anāryam mām mṛṣā vādinam eva ca ॥3-61-8॥
Translation
[My father will say,] "Without fulfilling that time [of exile], he has come here to my presence." He will consider me one of loose conduct, ignoble (anarya), and indeed, a speaker of lies.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(मेरे पिता कहेंगे) "वह (वनवास का) समय पूरा किए बिना ही मेरे पास यहाँ (परलोक में) आ गया है।" वे मुझे स्वेच्छाचारी (काम वृत्तम्), अनार्य (नीच कर्म करने वाला) और झूठा (मृषा वादी) कहेंगे।
English Commentary
Rama’s distress transcends personal loss; it touches the core of his Dharma. He fears that succumbing to grief and dying before the 14-year exile is complete would mark him as a liar (mrisha-vadin) in the afterlife. He imagines King Dasharatha accusing him of being anarya (ignoble) and kama-vrittam (acting according to mere desire rather than duty). This reveals Rama’s psyche: even in the face of emotional collapse, his primary anxiety is the preservation of Truth (Satya) and honor, fearing moral failure more than death itself.

श्री राम की चिंता का केंद्र केवल सीता का वियोग नहीं, बल्कि धर्म और सत्य का पालन भी है। वे सोचते हैं कि यदि वे अभी प्राण त्याग देते हैं, तो १४ वर्ष की वनवास अवधि पूरी नहीं होगी। परलोक में दशरथ उन्हें 'मृषा वादी' (झूठा) कहेंगे। 'अनार्य' शब्द यहाँ बहुत भारी है, जिसका अर्थ है वह व्यक्ति जो श्रेष्ठ मूल्यों से गिर गया हो। राम को मृत्यु से अधिक भय अपयश और पिता के वचनों को झूठा सिद्ध करने का है। यह श्लोक रघुकुल की 'प्राण जाई पर वचन न जाई' वाली परंपरा के प्रति राम की निष्ठा को रेखांकित करता है।
