धिक् त्वाम् इति परे लोके व्यक्तम् वक्ष्यति मे पिता ।
विवशम् शोक संतप्तम् दीनम् भग्न मनोरथम् ॥३-६१-९॥
Dhik tvām iti pare loke vyaktam vakṣyati me pitā |
Vivaśam śoka saṃtaptam dīnam bhagna manoratham ॥3-61-9॥
Translation
In the other world, my father will clearly say to me, "Fie on you!" seeing me helpless, consumed by grief, miserable, and with my purposes shattered.
हिंदी अनुवाद
परलोक में मेरे पिता स्पष्ट रूप से मुझसे "धिक्कार है तुम्हें" (धिक् त्वाम्) कहेंगे, क्योंकि मैं विवश, शोक से जलता हुआ, दीन और टूटे हुए मनोरथ वाला (असफल) सिद्ध हुआ हूँ।
English Commentary
Rama visualizes a painful reunion with his father in the afterlife (pare loke), where instead of comfort, he expects condemnation ("Fie on you"). He describes himself as vivasham (without control) and bhagna-manoratham (broken-willed/failed goals). This is significant because Rama is usually the epitome of Dhriti (fortitude). Here, he acknowledges that grief has stripped him of his agency, making him feel unworthy of his lineage. It is a moment of supreme vulnerability for the hero.

राम आत्म-ग्लानि (guilt) से भर गए हैं। वे अपनी वर्तमान स्थिति का वर्णन 'दीन' (गरीब/कमजोर) और 'भग्न मनोरथम्' (जिसका उद्देश्य टूट गया हो) के रूप में करते हैं। उन्हें लगता है कि क्षत्रिय धर्म का पालन न कर पाने और पत्नी की रक्षा में विफल रहने के कारण वे पिता के सामने जाने योग्य नहीं रहे। दशरथ का 'धिक्कार' सुनना उनके लिए सबसे बड़ा दंड होगा। यह श्लोक एक पुत्र की अपने पिता के प्रति जवाबदेही और अपनी विवशता (helplessness) के बीच के द्वंद्व को दर्शाता है।
