सुता विनाश संतप्तो मोहस्य वशम् एष्यति ।
अथवा न गमिष्यामि पुरीम् भरत पालितम् ॥ ॥३-६२-१४॥
Sutā vināśa santapto mohasya vaśam eṣyati |
Athavā na gamiṣyāmi purīm bharata pālitam ॥3-62-14॥
Translation
"Tormented by the loss of his daughter, he will surely fall under the sway of delusion (or death). Or rather, I shall not go to the city ruled by Bharata at all."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"पुत्री के विनाश से संतप्त होकर वे (जनक) अवश्य ही मोह (मूर्छा/मृत्यु) के वश में हो जाएंगे। अथवा, मैं भरत द्वारा पालित पुरी (अयोध्या) में जाऊंगा ही नहीं।"
English Commentary
Rama contemplates the devastating ripple effect of Sita's loss. He fears Janaka might die of shock (mohasya vaśam eṣyati). Consequently, Rama makes a drastic decision: "I shall not go to the city." By referring to Ayodhya as Bharata pālitam (ruled by Bharata), he abdicates his claim to the throne and his desire to return to civilization. This signifies a total withdrawal from life duties (Dharma), driven by the conviction that his life has lost its purpose without Sita.

राम यहाँ दो निर्णय ले रहे हैं। पहला, उन्हें जनक की मृत्यु की आशंका है ('मोहस्य वशम् एष्यति'), क्योंकि सीता उनकी लाडली थी। दूसरा, इस ग्लानि के कारण राम ने अयोध्या न लौटने का मन बना लिया है। 'भरत पालितम्' (भरत द्वारा पालित) शब्द का प्रयोग करके वे संकेत दे रहे हैं कि अयोध्या का राजा अब भरत ही रहे। राम को लगता है कि सीता के बिना उनका अस्तित्व अपूर्ण है और समाज का सामना करने का साहस अब उनमें शेष नहीं रहा। यह हताशा की चरम सीमा है।
