सीतायाः च विनाशो अयम् मम च अमित्र सूदन ।
विस्तरेण जनन्या विनिवेद्य त्वया भवेत् ॥ ॥३-६२-१९॥
Sītāyāḥ ca vināśo ayam mama ca amitra sūdana |
Vistareṇa jananyā vinivedya tvayā bhavet ॥3-62-19॥
Translation
"O slayer of foes! You must narrate in detail this destruction of Sita and of myself to my mother."

"हे अमित्रसूदन (शत्रुनाशक)! तुम्हें मेरी माता (कौसल्या) को सीता के विनाश और मेरे विनाश (मृत्यु) का यह सारा वृत्तांत विस्तार से निवेदित करना होगा।"
English Commentary
This verse concludes Rama's morbid instructions. Addressing Lakshmana as Amitrasūdana (slayer of foes) is ironic given Rama's defeatist stance. He insists that the "destruction" (vināśo) of both Sita and himself be reported vistareṇa (in detail) to Kausalya. Rama wants the truth of his tragic end to be known, ensuring there is no ambiguity about his fate. He treats his death as a foregone conclusion, equating his loss of will to live with actual destruction.

यह श्लोक 62वें सर्ग का उपसंहार है। राम लक्ष्मण को 'अमित्रसूदन' कहते हैं, जो विडंबनापूर्ण है क्योंकि वे शत्रु (रावण) का नाश करने के बजाय आत्म-विनाश की बात कर रहे हैं। वे चाहते हैं कि लक्ष्मण 'विस्तरेण' (विस्तार से) सब बताएं—कैसे सीता खोईं और कैसे राम ने प्राण त्यागे। राम कोई रहस्य नहीं रखना चाहते; वे चाहते हैं कि उनका परिवार उनकी त्रासद नियति को पूर्णतः जाने। यहाँ 'मम च (विनाशो)' राम की मृत्यु की पुष्टि करता है जिसे वे आसन्न मान रहे हैं।
