मया विहीना विजने वने या रक्षोभिः आहृत्य विकृष्यमाणा ।
नूनम् विनादम् कुररि इव दीना सा मुक्तवती आयत कान्त नेत्रा ॥ ॥३-६३-११॥
Mayā vihīnā vijanē vanē yā rakṣōbhiḥ āhṛtya vikṛṣyamāṇā । nūnam vinādam kurari iva dīnā sā muktavatī āyata kānta nētrā ॥ ॥3-63-11॥
Translation
Separated from me in this desolate forest, while being dragged away by the Rakshasas, she of the large and beautiful eyes must surely have been letting out piteous cries like a Kurari bird.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुझसे रहित इस निर्जन वन में, राक्षसों द्वारा पकड़कर घसीटे जाते समय, विशाल और सुंदर नेत्रों वाली वह (सीता) निश्चय ही कुररी (ऑस्प्रे) पक्षी की भांति दीन होकर चीत्कार कर रही होगी।
English Commentary
Rama compares Sita’s helpless cries to those of a Kurari bird (Osprey), a standard metaphor in Sanskrit literature for mournful, high-pitched wailing, especially when separated from a mate. The phrase Maya vihina (separated from me/without me) is key—it underlines that her vulnerability stems directly from his absence. He visualizes her being physically dragged (vikrishyamana), stripping away her royal dignity. Despite the violence, he recalls her "large, beautiful eyes" (ayata kanta netra), imagining those very eyes, usually calm and loving, now wide with terror and looking for him in vain. The verse captures the helplessness of a protector who realizes his charge is suffering specifically because he is not there to intervene.

पुनः एक बार राम सीता की असहाय अवस्था का चित्रण करते हैं। यहाँ 'कुररी' पक्षी (एक प्रकार का जल-पक्षी जो अपने करुण क्रंदन के लिए जाना जाता है) की उपमा दी गई है। जब कुररी पक्षी का जोड़ा बिछड़ता है या उस पर आक्रमण होता है, तो वह बहुत ही दीनता से चिल्लाता है। राम कहते हैं 'मया विहीना' (मेरे बिना)—अर्थात यदि राम वहाँ होते तो सीता को यह कष्ट न होता, यह आत्म-ग्लानि यहाँ ध्वनित है। सीता के 'आयत कान्त नेत्रा' (विशाल सुंदर नेत्र) का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि वे नेत्र जो सदा प्रेम और करुणा से भरे रहते थे, अब भय और आंसुओं से भरे होंगे। 'विकृष्यमाणा' (घसीटे जाते हुए) शब्द सीता के साथ हुए दुर्व्यवहार की क्रूरता को स्पष्ट करता है।
