Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सर्वाणि अनुचरिष्यामि यदि सीता हि लभ्यते ।
एते महा मृगा वीर माम् ईक्षन्ते पुनः पुनः ॥ ॥३-६४-१५॥
Sarvāṇi anucariṣyāmi yadi sītā hi labhyatē । ētē mahā mṛgā vīra mām īkṣantē punaḥ punaḥ ॥ ॥3-64-15॥
Translation
...I will search all these places if perchance Sita can be found. O Hero (Lakshmana)! Look, these great deer are looking at me again and again.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"...इन सब स्थानों पर मैं (सीता को) खोजूँगा, यदि कहीं सीता मिल जाए। (अचानक राम का ध्यान मुड़ता है) हे वीर (लक्ष्मण)! देखो, ये बड़े-बड़े मृग बार-बार मेरी ओर देख रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
While declaring his intent to search the entire forest, Rama is interrupted by the behavior of the wildlife. He notices maha mriga (great deer) staring at him repeatedly (punah punah). In the wild, animals staring usually signifies curiosity or an intent to communicate, rather than flight which signifies fear. Rama’s observation skills, honed by forest life, alert him that this is significant. He draws Lakshmana’s attention to it. This moment marks a pivot from aiming blindly at locations (river, mountain) to following a specific, living clue.

राम खोज का संकल्प ले ही रहे थे कि उनका ध्यान प्रकृति के एक संकेत की ओर जाता है। जंगल के मृग (हिरण) राम की ओर एकटक देख रहे हैं। 'पुनः पुनः' (बार-बार) देखना यह बताता है कि यह सामान्य व्यवहार नहीं है। मृग आमतौर पर मनुष्यों से डरकर भागते हैं, पर यहाँ वे राम को कुछ संदेश देना चाहते हैं। राम इसे पहचान लेते हैं। वे लक्ष्मण को 'वीर' कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, मानो अब किसी नए अभियान या रहस्योद्घाटन का समय आ गया है। यह श्लोक हताशा के बीच संवाद की एक नई खिड़की खुलने का संकेत है—जहाँ भाषा विफल हो जाती है, वहाँ मूक पशु सहायता करते हैं।
