अभिरक्षन्ति पुष्पाणि प्रकुर्वन्तो मम प्रियम् ।
एवम् उक्त्वा महाबाहुः लक्ष्मणम् पुरुषर्षभम् ॥ ॥३-६४-२८॥
abhirakṣanti puṣpāṇi prakurvanto mama priyam । evam uktvā mahābāhuḥ lakṣmaṇam puruṣarṣabham ॥ ॥3-64-28॥
Translation
"...have preserved these flowers to do me a kindness." Having said this, the mighty-armed Rama spoke to Lakshmana, the bull among men.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"...(इन तत्वों ने) मेरा प्रिय करने के लिए ही इन फूलों की रक्षा की है।" ऐसा कहकर महाबाहु राम ने पुरुषश्रेष्ठ लक्ष्मण से (पुनः) कहा।
English Commentary
Rama concludes that the elements preserved the freshness of the flowers as a favor ("mama priyam") to him. This reflects the poetic concept where a lover feels the universe revolves around their grief. The epithet 'mahabahu' (mighty-armed) reminds us of Rama's warrior capacity, hinting that the arms currently hanging in grief will soon wield the bow in vengeance. Addressing Lakshmana as 'purusharshabham' (bull among men) acknowledges his brother's strength and stability during this emotional breakdown.

राम को लगता है कि प्रकृति ने इन फूलों को मुरझाने नहीं दिया ताकि वे सीता का पता बता सकें। यह एक प्रेमी का भ्रम और आशा दोनों है। 'महाबाहुः' (विशाल भुजाओं वाले) विशेषण का प्रयोग यहाँ व्यंग्यात्मक लग सकता है क्योंकि उनकी भुजाएँ अभी सीता की रक्षा करने में असमर्थ रही हैं, लेकिन यह उनकी सुप्त शक्ति का भी प्रतीक है जो जल्द ही जागृत होगी। राम अपनी वेदना को लक्ष्मण (पुरुषर्षभ - पुरुषों में श्रेष्ठ) के साथ साझा कर रहे हैं, जो उनके एकमात्र संबल हैं।
