Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पश्य लक्ष्मण वैदेह्याः कीर्णाम् कनक बिन्दवः ।
भूषणानाम् हि सौमित्रे माल्यानि विविधानि च ॥ ॥३-६४-३९॥
paśya lakṣmaṇa vaidehyāḥ kīrṇām kanaka bindavaḥ । bhūṣaṇānām hi saumitre mālyāni vividhāni ca ॥ ॥3-64-39॥
Translation
"See, O Lakshmana, the gold drops (beads) scattered from Vaidehi's ornaments, and indeed, various garlands, O Saumitri."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे लक्ष्मण! देखो, वैदेही के आभूषणों से गिरे हुए ये सोने के कण (या मनके) और नाना प्रकार के फूलों की मालाएँ बिखरी पड़ी हैं।"
English Commentary
Rama points out the 'kanaka bindavah'—drops of gold or beads from shattered necklaces. This detail emphasizes the violence of the abduction; jewelry does not simply fall off unless pulled or struck. The scattered garlands ('malyani') add to the pathos—symbols of beauty and grace now lying ruined. Rama is piecing together the scene for Lakshmana, sharing the visual horror of seeing his wife's personal items destroyed.

'कनक बिन्दवः' का अर्थ यहाँ सोने के आभूषणों के टूटकर गिरे हुए टुकड़े या मनके हैं। संघर्ष में सीता के आभूषण टूट गए थे। राम उन्हें पहचानते हैं। 'माल्यानि' (मालाएँ) जो शायद पूजा के लिए या श्रृंगार के लिए थीं, अब धूल में मिली हैं। राम का लक्ष्मण को बार-बार 'सौमित्रे' कहकर संबोधित करना, सहानुभूति और सहारे की उनकी आवश्यकता को दर्शाता है। वे प्रमाण दिखा रहे हैं, मानो खुद को विश्वास दिलाने की कोशिश कर रहे हों कि यह दुःस्वप्न सत्य है।
