राक्षसानाम् इदम् वस्त सुराणाम् अधवा अपि ।
तरुण आदित्य संकाशम् वैदूर्य गुलिका चितम् ॥ ॥३-६४-४४॥
rākṣasānām idam vasta surāṇām adhavā api । taruṇa āditya saṃkāśam vaidūrya gulikā citam ॥ ॥3-64-44॥
Translation
"Does this object, shining like the young sun and inlaid with Vaidurya gems, belong to Rakshasas or even to gods?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"राक्षसों अथवा देवताओं की यह वस्तु (संभवतः कवच या धनुष का भाग), जो बाल-सूर्य के समान चमक रही है और वैदूर्य मणियों (Lapis Lazuli) से जड़ी है, (किसकी है?)"
English Commentary
Rama ponders the origin of the glittering debris. The object shines like the morning sun ('taruna aditya'), suggesting divine or high-grade magical craftsmanship. The presence of 'Vaidurya' (cat's eye or lapis) gems indicates immense wealth. Rama wonders if this belongs to demons or gods ('suranam'), hinting at Ravana's power which rivaled the gods. This realization elevates the conflict; they are not dealing with petty forest spirits but a foe of celestial magnitude.

यहाँ 'वस्त' (वस्तु) से तात्पर्य युद्ध में टूटे हुए कवच या रथ के भाग से है। उसकी चमक 'तरुण आदित्य' (उगते हुए सूर्य) जैसी है, जो उसके दिव्य या जादुई होने का प्रमाण है। 'वैदूर्य' मणियों का जड़ा होना रावण के पुष्पक रथ या उसके शाही कवच की भव्यता को दिखाता है। राम को संदेह होता है कि क्या यह किसी देवता ('सुराणाम्') का है? यह श्लोक शत्रु की महान शक्ति और ऐश्वर्य को स्थापित करता है, जिससे राम को आने वाली चुनौती का आभास होता है।
