अपविद्धः च भग्नः च कस्य सांग्रामिको रथः ।
रथ अक्ष मात्रा विशिखाः तपनीय विभूषणाः ॥ ॥३-६४-४८॥
apavidhhaḥ ca bhagnaḥ ca kasya sāṃgrāmiko rathaḥ । ratha akṣa mātrā viśikhāḥ tapanīya vibhūṣaṇāḥ ॥ ॥3-64-48॥
Translation
"Whose war-chariot lies overturned and broken? And whose gold-adorned arrows are these, as large as chariot axles?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"यह किसका संग्राम-रथ उलट-पलट कर टूटा पड़ा है? और ये रथ की धुरी (axle) के बराबर मोटे/लंबे, सोने से विभूषित बाण (किसके हैं)?"
English Commentary
Rama finds the 'sangramiko rathah' (combat chariot) smashed. The arrows ('vishikhah') are described as 'ratha aksha matra'—as thick or long as the axle of a chariot. This imagery conveys the terrifying ballistic power of the enemy. Only a giant or a being of immense supernatural strength could wield such munitions. This realization escalates the threat level; Rama knows he must prepare for a combatant of "heavy artillery" capability.

'सांग्रामिको रथः' का अर्थ है विशेष रूप से युद्ध के लिए बना रथ। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण वर्णन बाणों का है—'रथ अक्ष मात्रा' (रथ की धुरी के बराबर)। यह अतिशयोक्ति नहीं, बल्कि शत्रु की दैवीय शक्ति का वर्णन है। ऐसे विशाल बाणों को चलाने के लिए असाधारण धनुष और बल की आवश्यकता होती है। राम समझ रहे हैं कि उनका सामना किसी सामान्य राक्षस से नहीं है। 'तपनीय विभूषणाः' (तपे हुए सोने से सजे) बाण शत्रु की समृद्धि और घातक क्षमता दोनों को दर्शाते हैं।
