वैरम् शत गुणम् पश्य मम तैः जीवित अंतकम् ।
सुघोर हृदयैः सौम्य राक्षसैः काम रूपिभिः ॥ ॥३-६४-५१॥
vairam śata guṇam paśya mama taiḥ jīvita antakam । sughora hṛdayaiḥ saumya rākṣasaiḥ kāma rūpibhiḥ ॥ ॥3-64-51॥
Translation
"See, O gentle one, my enmity with those cruel-hearted, shape-shifting Rakshasas has increased a hundredfold; it shall be the end of their lives."

"हे सौम्य! देखो, उन क्रूर हृदय वाले और कामरूपी राक्षसों के साथ मेरा बैर अब सौ गुना बढ़ गया है; यह बैर उनके प्राणों का अंत करने वाला होगा।"
English Commentary
Rama declares war. The phrase 'vairam shata gunam' (enmity multiplied by a hundred) signifies that this is no longer just about rescue; it is about retribution. He defines the Rakshasas by their 'ghora' (cruel) hearts and deceptive powers ('kama rupibhih'). This moment marks the crystallization of Rama's intent: total extermination of the aggressors ('jivita antakam'). He is no longer a passive victim of fate but an active agent of destruction.

यहाँ से राम के चरित्र में एक बड़ा परिवर्तन आता है। अब तक वे केवल सीता को ढूँढ रहे थे, लेकिन अब वे 'वैरम्' (शत्रुता/युद्ध) की घोषणा कर रहे हैं। 'शत गुणम्' (सौ गुना) वृद्धि दर्शाती है कि सीता का अपहरण केवल एक व्यक्तिगत हानि नहीं, बल्कि एक अक्षम्य अपराध है। वे राक्षसों को 'सुघोर हृदयैः' (अत्यंत क्रूर दिल वाले) कहते हैं। यह प्रतिज्ञा 'जीवित अंतकम्' (जीवन का अंत करने वाली) है, जो रावण वध की नींव रखती है।
