भक्षितायाम् हि वैदेह्याम् हृतायाम् अपि लक्ष्मण ।
के हि लोके प्रियम् कर्तुम् शक्ताः सौम्य मम ईश्वराः ॥ ॥३-६४-५३॥
bhakṣitāyām hi vaidehyām hṛtāyām api lakṣmaṇa । ke hi loke priyam kartum śaktāḥ saumya mama īśvarāḥ ॥ ॥3-64-53॥
Translation
"O gentle Lakshmana, if Vaidehi is eaten or abducted, which gods in this world are capable of doing anything pleasing to me?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे सौम्य लक्ष्मण! वैदेही के खाए जाने या हर लिए जाने पर, इस संसार में कौन से देवता (ईश्वर) मेरा प्रिय करने में समर्थ हो सकते हैं? (अर्थात कोई नहीं)।"
English Commentary
Rama asserts the centrality of Sita in his life. He rhetorically asks Lakshmana if any 'Ishvaras' (gods/controllers) can offer him any solace or boon that would compensate for Sita's loss. The answer is implied: No. This statement elevates Sita above all worldly and celestial gains. It implies that without her, the favor of the gods is irrelevant to him. It is a rejection of the cosmic order that allowed this tragedy to happen.

राम घोषणा करते हैं कि सीता के बिना उनका जीवन निरर्थक है। 'ईश्वराः' (समर्थ देवता/लोकपाल) भी अब उन्हें प्रसन्न नहीं कर सकते। यदि सीता नहीं रहीं, तो स्वर्ग का सुख या देवताओं का वरदान भी उनके लिए व्यर्थ है। यह सीता के प्रति उनके अनन्य प्रेम (Exclusive devotion) को दर्शाता है। राम यहाँ देवताओं को भी चुनौती दे रहे हैं कि वे इस क्षति की पूर्ति नहीं कर सकते।
