Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
माम् प्राप्य हि गुणो दोषः संवृत्तः पश्य लक्ष्मण ।
अद्य एव सर्व भूतानाम् रक्षसाम् अभवाय च ॥ ॥३-६४-५६॥
mām prāpya hi guṇo doṣaḥ saṃvṛttaḥ paśya lakṣmaṇa । adya eva sarva bhūtānām rakṣasām abhavāya ca ॥ ॥3-64-56॥
Translation
"O Lakshmana, see how my virtues, having reached me, have become defects. Therefore, this very day, for the destruction of all beings and Rakshasas..." (to be continued in the next verse).
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे लक्ष्मण! देखो, मेरे गुण ही (मुझमें आश्रय पाकर) दोष बन गए हैं। इसलिए आज ही, सभी प्राणियों और राक्षसों के विनाश (अभव) के लिए..." (अगले श्लोक में जारी)।
English Commentary
Rama concludes that his virtues have mutated into flaws ('guno doshah samvrittah') because they invited exploitation. This is a profound realization of Realpolitik—virtue without the display of power is ineffective. He announces a shift to total destruction ('abhavaya') for both Rakshasas and the indifferent world ('sarva bhutanam'). The gentle prince is effectively shedding his skin to become the terrifying force of cosmic justice.
