संहृत्य एव शशि ज्योत्स्नाम् महान् सूर्य इव उदितः ।
संहृत्य एव गुणान् सर्वान् मम तेजः प्रकाश्ते ॥ ॥३-६४-५७॥
saṃhṛtya eva śaśi jyotsnām mahān sūrya iva uditaḥ । saṃhṛtya eva guṇān sarvān mama tejaḥ prakāśate ॥ ॥3-64-57॥
Translation
Just as the great sun rises after withdrawing the moonlight, similarly, my radiance is shining forth today, having withdrawn all my (gentle) qualities.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे महासूर्य चन्द्रमा की चांदनी को समेटकर उदित होता है, वैसे ही मेरा यह तेज आज मेरे समस्त (सौम्य) गुणों को समेटकर (तिरोहित कर) प्रदीप्त हो रहा है।
English Commentary
Here, Shri Rama compares his rising fury to the sun at the time of dissolution. Just as the rising sun obliterates the cooling light of the moon, Rama's intense grief has overshadowed his innate qualities of forgiveness, compassion, and gentleness. By stating 'having withdrawn all qualities,' he signifies a temporary suspension of his characteristic restraint. This verse marks a psychological transition where the sorrow of separation transforms into a cosmic rage (Tejas), suggesting that even the most virtuous soul, when pushed beyond endurance, manifests a terrifying radiance capable of overshadowing all softness.

यहाँ श्रीराम के क्रोध की तुलना प्रलयकालीन सूर्य से की गई है। जिस प्रकार सूर्य के उदय होने पर चन्द्रमा की शीतलता और प्रकाश लुप्त हो जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार सीता के अपहरण से उत्पन्न शोक और क्रोध के कारण श्रीराम की स्वाभाविक क्षमा, दया और मृदुता लुप्त हो गई है। 'संहृत्य एव गुणान् सर्वान्' का अर्थ है कि अब वे अपनी मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम की छवि से परे जाकर रौद्र रूप धारण कर रहे हैं। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि जब सज्जनता का अतिशय अपमान होता है, तो वह भीषण तेज में परिवर्तित हो जाती है, जो सम्पूर्ण विश्व को जलाने में सक्षम है।
