Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
करिष्ये मैथिली हेतोः अपिशाचम् अराक्षसम् ।
मम रोष प्रयुक्तानाम् विशिखानाम् बलम् सुराः ॥ ॥३-६४-६६॥
kariṣye maithilī hetoḥ apiśācam arākṣasam । mama roṣa prayuktānām viśikhānām balam surāḥ ॥ ॥3-64-66॥
Translation
For the sake of Maithili (Sita), I shall rid (the world) of Pisachas and Rakshasas. The gods will witness the power of my arrows released in anger.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैथिली (सीता) के लिए मैं इस जगत को पिशाचों और राक्षसों से रहित कर दूंगा। देवता मेरे क्रोध से चलाए गए बाणों के बल को देखेंगे।
English Commentary
In this verse, Shri Rama directs his anger toward a specific purpose. While he previously threatened universal destruction, the core objective remains the recovery of 'Maithili' and the extermination of 'Rakshasas.' He vows to wipe out the demonic race entirely. 'Apishacham Arakshasam' means to cleanse the earth completely of these dark forces. This serves as the prologue to the great war of Lanka. Here, personal vengeance begins to transform into a resolve for universal welfare through the destruction of evil.

इस श्लोक में श्रीराम अपने क्रोध को एक दिशा दे रहे हैं। यद्यपि वे पूरी सृष्टि के विनाश की बात कर रहे थे, किन्तु मूल लक्ष्य 'मैथिली' की प्राप्ति और 'राक्षसों' का विनाश है। वे प्रतिज्ञा करते हैं कि वे राक्षस जाति का समूल नाश कर देंगे। 'अपिशाचम् अराक्षसम्' का अर्थ है धरती को इन तामसिक शक्तियों से पूरी तरह साफ कर देना। यह भविष्य में होने वाले लंका युद्ध की पूर्वपीठिका है। यहाँ व्यक्तिगत प्रतिशोध लोक-कल्याण (दुष्ट संहार) के संकल्प में बदल रहा है।
