इति उक्त्वा क्रोध ताम्र अक्षः स्फुरमाण ओष्ट संपुटः ।
वल्कल अजिनम् आबद्ध्य जटा भारम् बन्धयत् ॥ ॥३-६४-७२॥
iti uktvā krodha tāmra akṣaḥ sphuramāṇa oṣṭa saṃpuṭaḥ । valkala ajinam ābaddhya jaṭā bhāram bandhayat ॥ ॥3-64-72॥
Translation
Speaking thus, with eyes copper-red from anger and lips trembling, he tightened his bark garments and deerskin, and tied up his matted hair firmly.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ऐसा कहकर, क्रोध से लाल नेत्र वाले और फड़कते हुए होंठों वाले श्रीराम ने अपने वल्कल और म्रीगचर्म को कस लिया और अपनी जटाओं का जूड़ा (कसकर) बांध लिया।
English Commentary
This verse vividly describes the physical manifestations (Anubhavas) of Raudra Rasa. Eyes turning 'tamra' (copper-red) and trembling lips indicate uncontrollable fury. The tightening of the bark garments and securing the matted locks (Jata) signify martial readiness. While ascetics often keep hair loose or loosely tied, binding them tight is a ritual preparation for combat or intense action. Rama physically transitions here from the gentle ascetic to the fierce warrior prepared for annihilation.

यह श्लोक 'रौद्र रस' का शारीरिक अनुभव (Anubhava) है। आँखों का 'ताम्र' (तांबे जैसा लाल) होना और होंठों का फड़कना अत्यधिक आवेश के लक्षण हैं। वल्कल वस्त्र कसना और जटाओं को बांधना युद्ध की तैयारी का सूचक है। तपस्वी प्रायः जटाएँ खुली या ढीली रखते हैं, किन्तु युद्ध या कठोर कर्म से पहले उन्हें बांधना संकल्प और तत्परता को दर्शाता है। श्रीराम ने अब तपस्वी का सौम्य रूप त्याग कर एक योद्धा का भयानक रूप धारण कर लिया है।
