Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
संदधे धनुषि श्रीमान् रामः पर पुरंजयः ।
युग अन्त अग्निः इव क्रुद्धः इदम् वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥३-६४-७५॥
saṃdadhe dhanuṣi śrīmān rāmaḥ para puraṃjayaḥ । yuga anta agniḥ iva kruddhaḥ idam vacanam abravīt ॥ ॥3-64-75॥
Translation
The glorious Rama, conqueror of enemy cities, fixed the arrow on the bow, and raging like the fire at the end of an era, spoke these words.

शत्रुओं के नगरों को जीतने वाले 'श्रीमान' राम ने वह बाण धनुष पर चढ़ाया और प्रलयकालीन अग्नि (युगांत अग्नि) के समान क्रुद्ध होकर यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
There is a striking juxtaposition here. Rama is described as 'Sriman' (full of grace/glory) and 'Para puranjayah' (conqueror of cities), yet simultaneously compared to 'Yuga anta agni' (the fire of the apocalypse). His divine grace has morphed into terrifying radiance. Fixing the arrow on the string represents the tipping point—total annihilation is merely a loose finger away. It is the moment of absolute tension before the release of cosmic wrath.

यहाँ विरोधाभास अलंकार है। एक ओर राम को 'श्रीमान' (शोभायुक्त) और 'पर पुरंजयः' (शत्रु नगरी विजेता) कहा गया है, और दूसरी ओर उन्हें 'युग अन्त अग्नि' (प्रलय की आग) बताया गया है। उनकी सुंदरता अब भयावहता में बदल गई है। बाण का संधान करना (चढ़ाना) 'क्लाइमेक्स' की स्थिति है—विनाश बस एक क्षण दूर है। यह लक्ष्मण और देवताओं के लिए अंतिम चेतावनी का क्षण है।
