Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
केन वा कस्य वा हेतोः स आयुधः स परिच्छदः ।
खुर नेमि क्षतः च अयम् सिक्तो रुधिर बिन्दुभिः ॥ ॥३-६५-७॥
kena vā kasya vā hetoḥ sa āyudhaḥ sa paricchadaḥ । khura nemi kṣataḥ ca ayam sikto rudhira bindubhiḥ ॥ ॥3-65-7॥
Translation
By whom or for what reason is this place scattered with weapons and armor? Why is it scarred by hooves and wheel-rims and drenched with drops of blood?

यह (स्थान) किसके द्वारा और किस हेतु से बाणों, हथियारों और कवचों से भर गया है? यह खुरों और पहियों के निशानों से क्षत-विक्षत और खून की बूंदों से सींचा हुआ क्यों है?
English Commentary
Lakshmana analyzes the crime scene like a detective. He notes the scattered weaponry, armor, blood droplets, and tracks of hooves and wheels—remnants of the aerial battle between Jatayu and Ravana (though Lakshmana doesn't know this yet). He poses questions to force Rama to engage cognitively with the scene. By engaging the intellect in solving the puzzle of 'what happened here,' Lakshmana aims to dampen the intensity of Rama's raw emotion.

लक्ष्मण एक जासूस की भांति घटनास्थल का विश्लेषण कर रहे हैं। वे बिखरे हुए अस्त्र, कवच, खून की बूंदें और पहियों के निशान देख रहे हैं। यह सब जटायु और रावण के बीच हुए युद्ध के अवशेष हैं, हालाँकि लक्ष्मण अभी यह नहीं जानते। वे प्रश्न पूछ रहे हैं ताकि राम भी उस दृश्य को ध्यान से देखें और स्थिति को समझें। जब मन प्रश्नों में उलझता है, तो क्रोध की तीव्रता कम होने लगती है। लक्ष्मण राम को 'क्या हुआ होगा?' की पहेली सुलझाने में लगा रहे हैं।
