Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पूर्वजो अपि उक्त मात्रः तु लक्ष्मणेन सुभाषितम् ।
सार ग्राही महासारम् प्रतिजग्राह राघवः ॥३-६७-१॥
pūrvajo api ukta mātraḥ tu lakṣmaṇena subhāṣitam |
sāra grāhī mahāsāram pratijagrāha rāghavaḥ ॥3-67-1॥
Translation
As soon as those well-spoken words were uttered by Lakshmana, the elder brother Raghava, who grasps the essence of things, accepted that great essence.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लक्ष्मण द्वारा कहे गए उन सुंदर वचनों (सुभाषित) को सुनते ही, सार को ग्रहण करने वाले (सारग्राही) बड़े भाई राघव ने उस महान सार को स्वीकार कर लिया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the turning point. The transition from the previous sarga to this one shows the immediate restoration of Rama's mental faculties. Rama is described as "sara-grahi"—one who grasps the essence/core. Despite his emotional turbulence, his intellect is sharp enough to instantly recognize the truth in Lakshmana's words. He accepts the "mahasaram" (great substance) of the advice without ego. It highlights the ideal relationship between the brothers, where wisdom is valued over hierarchy. Rama's ability to listen and correct his course is a hallmark of his leadership.

यह ६७वें सर्ग का पहला श्लोक है, जो लक्ष्मण के उपदेश का प्रभाव दर्शाता है। राम 'सारग्राही' हैं—वे व्यर्थ की बातों को छोड़कर केवल तत्व या निचोड़ को ग्रहण करते हैं। यद्यपि वे क्रोध और शोक में थे, लेकिन लक्ष्मण की तर्कसंगत और धर्मसम्मत बातों ('सुभाषितम्') ने तुरंत उनके विवेक को जगा दिया। राम का बड़प्पन (Purvaja - elder) इसमें नहीं है कि वे कभी गलत नहीं हो सकते, बल्कि इसमें है कि वे छोटे भाई की सही बात को भी तत्काल स्वीकार ('प्रतिजग्राह') कर लेते हैं। यह राम के चरित्र की लचीलापन (flexibility) और ग्रहणशीलता (receptivity) को दर्शाता है।
