Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
असंमूढस्य गृध्रस्य रामम् प्रति अनुभाषतः ।
आस्यात् सुस्राव रुधिरम् म्रियमाणस्य स अमिषम् ॥ ॥३-६८-१५॥
asaṃmūḍhasya gṛdhrasya rāmam prati anubhāṣataḥ । āsyāt susrāva rudhiram mriyamāṇasya sa amiṣam ॥ ॥3-68-15॥
Translation
"While the unconfused vulture was thus speaking to Rama, blood mixed with flesh flowed from his mouth as he was dying."

इस प्रकार राम से बात करते हुए उस अविचलित (बुद्धिमान/सचेत) गिद्धराज के मुख से मांस मिश्रित रक्त बहने लगा और वे मृत्यु को प्राप्त होने लगे।
English Commentary
The sage Valmiki uses the word asaṃmūḍhasya (unconfused/lucid) to emphasize Jatayu's mental state. Despite the horrific physical trauma—indicated by blood and flesh flowing from his mouth due to internal injuries—his mind remained clear and focused on Rama. This juxtaposition of a gruesome physical death with spiritual clarity highlights the yogic power of the bird-king. He held onto his life force solely to deliver the message to Rama.

वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ 'असंमूढस्य' (जो मूढ़ या भ्रमित नहीं है) शब्द का प्रयोग करके यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि जटayu अंत तक पूर्ण होश में थे। उनका शरीर साथ छोड़ रहा था, मुख से मांस और रक्त निकल रहा था (आंतरिक चोटों के कारण), लेकिन उनकी चेतना राम की सेवा में लीन थी। यह दृश्य अत्यंत करुण है—एक महान भक्त जो बोलते-बोलते अपने प्राण त्याग रहा है। यह श्लोक जटayu की शारीरिक पीड़ा और मानसिक दृढ़ता के बीच के विरोधाभास को चित्रित करता है।
