रोहि मांसानि च उद्धृत्य पेशी कृत्वा महायशाः ।
शकुनाय ददौ रामो रम्ये हरित शाद्वले ॥ ॥३-६८-३३॥
Rohi māmsāni ca uddhṛtya peśī kṛtvā mahāyaśāḥ । Śakunāya dadau Rāmo ramye harita śādvale ॥ ॥3-68-33॥
Translation
The highly illustrious Rama extracted the flesh of the Rohi deer, made it into balls (pindas), and offered it to the bird on the beautiful green grass.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महायशस्वी राम ने रोही मृगों के मांस को निकालकर, उसके पिंड (टुकड़े/गोलियाँ) बनाये और सुंदर हरी घास के ऊपर उन पक्षीराज (जटायु) को अर्पित किया।
English Commentary
Rama completes the obsequies by offering Pinda (ritual balls of food). He extracts the meat (māmsāni), forms it into lumps/balls (peśī kṛtvā), and places them on harita śādvale (green grassy ground), which serves as the ritual altar in the wild (substituting for Darbha grass). By offering the food that represents sustenance for the departing soul, Rama finalizes the relationship of father and son. This act cements Rama’s reputation (mahāyaśāḥ) not just as a warrior, but as the upholder of Dharma who honors every sacrifice made for him.

यह जटayu के अंत्येष्टि कर्म का समापन है। राम ने मांस के टुकड़ों को 'पेशी कृत्वा' (पिंड या गोलाकार बनाकर) दर्भ या हरी घास ('हरित शाद्वले') पर अर्पित किया। शास्त्रों में दर्भ (कुशा) पर पिंड दान का विधान है। राम ने एक पुत्र की भांति यह सुनिश्चित किया कि जटayu की आत्मा को परलोक यात्रा के लिए तृप्ति प्राप्त हो। 'महायशाः' (महान यशस्वी) शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ इसलिए है क्योंकि एक पक्षी के लिए ऐसा शास्त्रोक्त कर्म करके राम ने अपनी कीर्ति को और भी उज्ज्वल किया। यह कृतज्ञता की पराकाष्ठा है।
