कृत्वा एवम् उदकम् तस्मै प्रस्थितौ राघवौ तदा ।
अवेक्षन्तौ वने सीताम् जग्मतुः पश्चिमाम् दिशम् ॥ ॥३-६९-१॥
Kṛtvā evam udakam tasmai prasthitau Rāghavau tadā । Avekṣantau vane Sītām jagmatuḥ paścimām diśam ॥ ॥3-69-1॥
Translation
Having thus offered water to him, the two Raghavas set out, and while searching for Sita in the forest, they proceeded in the western direction.

उस (जटायु) के लिए इस प्रकार जलांजलि देकर, दोनों राघव वन में सीता को ढूंढते हुए पश्चिम दिशा की ओर चल पड़े।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts to the logistics of the search. After the ritual pause, movement resumes. Interestingly, they head Paścimām diśam (West) initially, likely navigating the terrain to eventually turn South (as indicated by Jatayu). The participle Avekṣantau (looking around/searching) paints a picture of their vigilance. They are scanning the forest floor and surroundings for any clues—footprints, ornaments, or broken branches—that might indicate Sita's path.

जटायु के निर्देशानुसार कि रावण दक्षिण की ओर गया है, राम और लक्ष्मण यात्रा आरंभ करते हैं। यहाँ दिशा का उल्लेख है—'पश्चिमाम् दिशम्' (पश्चिम दिशा)। संभवतः वे भौगोलिक स्थिति के अनुसार दक्षिण-पश्चिम (नैऋत्य) कोण की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं या रास्ते की सुगमता देख रहे हैं। 'अवेक्षन्तौ' (निरीक्षण करते हुए/ढूंढते हुए) शब्द दर्शाता है कि उनकी आँखें हर झाड़ी और लता में सीता के चिह्न खोज रही हैं। यह यात्रा अब केवल भ्रमण नहीं, बल्कि एक गहन अन्वेषण (Search operation) बन गई है।
