ताम् दिशम् दक्षिणाम् गत्वा शर चाप असि धारिणौ ।
अविप्रहतम् ऐक्ष्वाकौ पन्थानम् प्रतिपेदतुः ॥ ॥३-६९-२॥
Tām diśam dakṣiṇām gatvā śara cāpa asi dhāriṇau । Aviprahatam aikṣvākau panthānam pratipedatuḥ ॥ ॥3-69-2॥
Translation
Moving towards the southern direction, the two scions of Ikshvaku, wielding arrows, bows, and swords, entered a path that was untrodden and unobstructed (wild).

(पश्चिम से मुड़कर) वे इक्ष्वाकुवंशी वीर दक्षिण दिशा की ओर गए। धनुष, बाण और तलवार धारण किए हुए उन्होंने एक ऐसे मार्ग पर प्रवेश किया जो सर्वथा अनजान और अगम्य था।
English Commentary
They correct their course towards the South (Dakṣiṇām), the direction of Ravana's flight. The mention of their weaponry—Śara (arrows), Cāpa (bows), and Asi (swords)—signifies a state of high alert. They are entering hostile territory. The path is described as Aviprahatam, which can mean 'unbeaten' or 'untrodden,' suggesting they are venturing into primal wilderness where no paths exist, guided only by their resolve to find Sita.

अब वे 'दक्षिणाम् दिशम्' (दक्षिण दिशा) की ओर पूरी तरह मुड़ गए हैं, जो यम और राक्षसों की दिशा मानी जाती है। 'शर चाप असि धारिणौ' (धनुष, बाण और तलवार धारण किए हुए)—यह वर्णन उनकी युद्ध-सज्जा को दिखाता है। वे अब किसी भी खतरे के लिए तैयार हैं। 'अविप्रहतम् पन्थानम्' का अर्थ है ऐसा रास्ता जिस पर पहले कोई चला न हो, या जो बहुत दुर्गम हो। इक्ष्वाकु वंश के राजकुमार होने के नाते वे कठिनाइयों से घबराने वाले नहीं हैं, वे अपना मार्ग स्वयं बना रहे हैं।
