रोमभिः निचितैः तीक्ष्णैः महागिरिम् इव उच्छ्रितम् ।
नील मेघ नभम् रौद्रम् मेघ स्तनित निःस्वनम् ॥ ॥३-६९-२८॥
Romabhiḥ nicitaiḥ tīkṣṇaiḥ mahāgirim iva ucchritam । Nīla megha nibham raudram megha stanita niḥsvanam ॥ ॥3-69-28॥
Translation
He was covered with sharp, dense bristles (hair), towering high like a great mountain. He was dark like a blue cloud, terrifying, and his voice resounded like thunder.

वह (राक्षस) तीखे और घने रोयों (बालों) से व्याप्त था, विशाल पर्वत की तरह ऊंचा था। वह नीले मेघ के समान (काला) और भयानक था, और उसकी आवाज बादलों की गर्जना जैसी थी।
English Commentary
The physical texturing of the monster is detailed here. He is not just skin and muscle but covered in tīkṣṇaiḥ romabhiḥ (sharp hairs/bristles), making him akin to a porcupine or a prickly mountain, unapproachable by touch. The similes used—mahāgirim (great mountain) for size, nīla megha (dark blue cloud) for color, and megha stanita (thunder) for voice—align him with the massive, overpowering elements of nature. He is a walking storm. This emphasizes his invulnerability and the sheer scale of the obstacle he presents to Rama and Lakshmana.
