ना अन्यो दोषो भवेत् अत्र मृगेभ्यः अन्यत्र विद्धि वै ।
तत् श्रुत्वा वचनम् तस्य महर्षेः लक्ष्मणाग्रजः ॥ ॥३-७-२०॥
Nā anyo doṣo bhavet atra mṛgebhyaḥ anyatra viddhi vai । tat śrutvā vacanam tasya maharṣeḥ lakṣmaṇāgrajaḥ ॥ ॥3-7-20॥
Translation
"Know that there is no fault here other than [that caused by] the deer. Hearing those words of the great sage, the elder brother of Lakshmana..."

"मृगों के अलावा यहाँ और कोई दोष नहीं है, ऐसा आप समझ लें। महर्षि के उस वचन को सुनकर लक्ष्मण के बड़े भाई (राम)..."
English Commentary

ऋषि सुतीक्ष्ण पुन: आश्वस्त करते हैं कि मृगों की इस उपद्रव या प्रलोभन वाली बात को छोड़कर यहाँ सब कुछ उत्तम है। 'लक्ष्मणाग्रजः' (लक्ष्मण के बड़े भाई) शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ राम की जिम्मेदारी और निर्णय लेने की क्षमता को इंगित करता है। वे न केवल अपने लिए बल्कि सीता और लक्ष्मण के लिए भी निर्णय ले रहे हैं। राम ने ऋषि की बात ध्यान से सुनी और समस्या की जड़ को पकड़ लिया। ऋषि की सरलता देखिए कि वे जानवरों के उपद्रव को भी 'दोष' मानकर पहले ही बता रहे हैं ताकि बाद में अतिथि को कष्ट न हो।
