उवाच वचनम् धीरो विगृह्य स शरम् धनुः ।
तान् अहम् सुमहाभाग मृगसंघान् समागतान् ॥ ॥३-७-२१॥
Uvāca vacanam dhīro vigṛhya sa śaram dhanuḥ । tān aham sumahābhāga mṛgasaṃghān samāgatān ॥ ॥3-7-21॥
Translation
...holding his bow and arrow, that wise one spoke these words: "O illustrious one, those herds of deer that come here..."

...धनुष और बाण को हाथ में लेकर वे धीर (राम) यह वचन बोले: "हे महाभाग! उन मृगों के समूहों को, जो यहाँ आते हैं..."
English Commentary
The physical action describing Rama 'holding his bow and arrow' ('vigrihya sa sharam dhanuh') before speaking is deeply symbolic. It reinforces his identity as a Kshatriya warrior. The bow is an extension of his Dharma. Addressing the sage as 'Sumahabhaga' (O highly illustrious one), Rama begins his response with great respect but visual firmness. He is preparing to explain the incompatibility of his warrior code with the sage's sanctuary. By gripping the weapon, he visually demonstrates the very potential for violence that he is about to verbally warn the sage against in the context of the deer.
