रामोऽहम् अस्मि भगवन् भवन्तम् द्रष्टुम् आगतः ।
तत् मा अभिवद धर्मज्ञ महर्षे सत्य विक्रम ॥ ॥३-७-७॥
Rāmo'ham asmi bhagavan bhavantam draṣṭum āgataḥ । tat mā abhivada dharmajña maharṣe satya vikrama ॥ ॥3-7-7॥
Translation
"I am Rama, O Lord, and I have come to see you. Therefore, O Knower of Dharma, O Great Sage of true valor, please speak to me."

"हे भगवन! मैं राम हूँ और आपके दर्शन के लिए आया हूँ। हे धर्मज्ञ! हे सत्यपराक्रमी महर्षि! आप मुझसे बोलें (मेरा अभिनंदन करें/आशीर्वाद दें)।"
English Commentary
Rama’s introduction is remarkably simple and humble—"Ramo'ham asmi" (I am Rama). He displays no ego regarding his royal status. By stating he has come specifically to see the sage, he places the sage on a pedestal. Addressing Sutikshna as 'Satya Vikrama' (one whose valor is Truth) is significant; it acknowledges that a sage's power lies in truth and penance, not in weapons. The request 'ma abhivada' (speak to me) implies a plea for blessings or words of welcome. Rama understands that the speech of a realized soul is potent, and thus, he respectfully invites the sage to break his silence and initiate the interaction.

श्रीराम का परिचय अत्यंत सरल और विनम्र है—"रामोऽहम् अस्मि" (मैं राम हूँ)। वे अपने अयोध्यापति होने का अहंकार नहीं दिखाते। 'भवन्तम् द्रष्टुम् आगतः' (मैं आपको देखने आया हूँ) कहकर वे यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि ऋषि का दर्शन ही उनका उद्देश्य है। वे ऋषि को 'सत्य विक्रम' (सत्य ही जिसका पराक्रम है) कहते हैं, जो यह बताता है कि ऋषियों की शक्ति उनके सत्य और तप में निहित होती है, शस्त्रों में नहीं। 'मा अभिवद' का अर्थ यहाँ केवल बात करना नहीं, बल्कि आशीर्वाद या स्वागत वचन की अपेक्षा करना है। श्रीराम जानते हैं कि एक महर्षि के मुख से निकले वचन अमोघ होते हैं, इसलिए वे संवाद की पहल ऋषि से चाहते हैं।
