तौ तु तत्र स्थितौ दृष्ट्वा भ्रातरौ राम लक्ष्मणौ ।
बाहु पाश परिक्षिप्तौ कबन्धो वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥३-७०-१॥
Tau tu tatra sthitau dṛṣṭvā bhrātarau rāma lakṣmaṇau । Bāhu pāśa parikṣiptau kabandho vākyam abravīt ॥ ॥3-70-1॥
Translation
Seeing those two brothers, Rama and Lakshmana, standing there entrapped in the noose of his arms, Kabandha spoke these words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन दोनों भाइयों, राम और लक्ष्मण को वहाँ 'बाहु-पाश' (भुजाओं के फंदे) में बंधकर खड़ा देखकर, कबंध ने यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This opening verse of the new canto resets the scene. The brothers are physically bāhu pāśa parikṣiptau (encircled by the noose of arms). Kabandha observes their hesitation. The use of pāśa (noose) evokes the image of Varuna’s weapon or a hunter’s trap, emphasizing their lack of mobility. Kabandha’s patience wears thin as he addresses his "food" which is delaying its own consumption.

दृश्य अब सर्ग 70 में प्रवेश करता है। स्थिति स्पष्ट है: राम और लक्ष्मण 'बाहु पाश परिक्षिप्तौ' हैं। 'पाश' शब्द का अर्थ है फंदा या रस्सी, यहाँ कबंध की भुजाएँ ही वह रस्सी हैं। कबंध देख रहा है कि वे भाग नहीं रहे हैं, बस बातें कर रहे हैं (जो पिछले श्लोकों में हुआ)। इसलिए वह अधीर होकर उन्हें टोकता है। यह श्लोक कबंध और भाइयों के बीच की शारीरिक स्थिति (Physical Proximity) को पुनः स्थापित करता है।
