ततः तौ देश कालज्ञौ खड्गाभ्याम् एव राघवौ ।
अच्छिन्दताम् सुसंहृष्टौ बाहू तस्य अंस देशतः ॥ ॥३-७०-८॥
Tataḥ tau deśa kālajñau khaḍgābhyām eva rāghavau । Acchindatām susaṃhṛṣṭau bāhū tasya aṃsa deśataḥ ॥ ॥3-70-8॥
Translation
"Then those two Raghavas, knowers of time and place (tacticians), happily cut off his arms at the shoulder region with their swords."

"तब देश और काल के ज्ञाता (उचित समय और स्थान पहचानने वाले) उन दोनों रघुकुल वीरों ने अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर तलवारों से उस राक्षस की भुजाओं को कंधों के पास से काट डाला।"
English Commentary
The descriptor deśa kālajñau (knowers of time and place) used for Rama and Lakshmana is vital here. It implies they did not strike in panic but chose the precise moment and the precise anatomical spot (the shoulder joint) to attack. The word susamhṛṣṭau (very happily/enthusiastically) indicates that once in combat, they felt no fear but rather the adrenaline and focus of true warriors. They strategically targeted the source of Kabandha's power—his arms—demonstrating superior tactical awareness even in a monstrous situation.
