Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
दक्षिणो दक्षिणम् बाहुम् असक्तम् असिना ततः ।
चिच्छेद रामो वेगेन सव्यम् वीरः तु लक्ष्मणः ॥ ॥३-७०-९॥
Dakṣiṇo dakṣiṇam bāhum asaktam asinā tataḥ । Ciccheda rāmo vegena savyam vīraḥ tu lakṣmaṇaḥ ॥ ॥3-70-9॥
Translation
"Then Rama, the dexterous one, swiftly cut off the right arm with his sword, and the hero Lakshmana cut off the left."

"कुशल (दाहिने ओर स्थित) राम ने वेगपूर्वक अपनी तलवार से (राक्षस की) दाहिनी भुजा को और वीर लक्ष्मण ने (बाईं ओर स्थित होकर) बाईं भुजा को काट दिया।"
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the perfect coordination between the two brothers. Rama was positioned on the right and Lakshmana on the left. Even without verbal coordination in that split second, they struck simultaneously with equal speed. The action was swift (vegena). Rama is described as handling the right arm while Lakshmana handled the left, creating a symmetrical dismantling of the demon. The precision was such that the amputation was clean and immediate, leaving Kabandha no opportunity to counter-attack or crush them before losing his limbs.

यह श्लोक दोनों भाइयों के बीच के तालमेल को दर्शाता है। राम राक्षस के दाहिनी ओर थे और लक्ष्मण बाईं ओर। बिना किसी पूर्व योजना के संवाद के भी, उन्होंने एक साथ एक ही वेग से वार किया। 'असक्तम्' (बिना किसी बाधा के या अनासक्त भाव से) शब्द राम की तलवार की धार और उनके कौशल को दिखाता है—प्रहार इतना सटीक था कि हड्डी और मांस काटने में कोई रुकावट नहीं आई। यह संयुक्त आक्रमण कबन्ध को संभालने का कोई अवसर दिए बिना उसे पंगु बनाने के लिए था।
