छेत्स्यते समरे बाहू तदा स्वर्गम् गमिष्यसि ।
अनेन वपुषा तात वने अस्मिन् राजसत्तम ॥३-७१-१६॥
Chetsyate samare bāhū tadā svargam gamiṣyasi । Anena vapuṣā tāta vane asmin rājasattama ॥ ॥3-71-16॥
Translation
"'...will cut off your arms in battle, then you will go to heaven.' With this body, O dear one, O best of kings, in this forest..."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"'...युद्ध में तुम्हारी भुजाएं काट देंगे, तब तुम स्वर्ग जाओगे।' हे तात! हे नृपश्रेष्ठ! इस (कुरूप) शरीर से इस वन में (मैं आपकी ही प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था)।"
English Commentary
Indra's prophecy was precise: the severing of the arms is the key to heaven. Kabandha addresses Rama affectionately as tāta (dear one/father) and respectfully as rājasattama (best of kings). This shows his deep relief and reverence. He implies that he has endured the burden of this grotesque body solely because of the faith that this specific day of liberation would eventually arrive.

इन्द्र की भविष्यवाणी स्पष्ट थी: भुजाओं का कटना ही स्वर्ग प्राप्ति की कुंजी है। कबन्ध राम को 'तात' (प्रिय/पिता तुल्य) और 'राजसत्तम' (राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ) कहकर संबोधित करता है। यह अपनापन और सम्मान दर्शाता है। वह बताता है कि वह इतने वर्षों से इस घृणित शरीर को केवल इसलिए ढो रहा था क्योंकि उसे विश्वास था कि एक दिन यह भविष्यवाणी सत्य होगी।
