तेन सख्यम् च कर्तव्यम् न्याय्य वृत्तेन राघव ।
कल्पयिष्यति ते प्रीतः साहाय्यम् लघु विक्रमः ॥ ॥३-७१-३३॥
Tena sakhyam ca kartavyam nyāyya vṛttena rāghava |
Kalpayiṣyati te prītaḥ sāhāyyam laghu vikramaḥ ॥3-71-33॥
Translation
"O Raghava! You should make friends with that person of just conduct. Being pleased, he will arrange help for you; he is capable (or swift in prowess)."

"हे राघव! तुम्हें उस न्याय-परायण व्यक्ति के साथ मित्रता करनी चाहिए। वह प्रसन्न होकर तुम्हें शीघ्रता से सहायता प्रदान करेगा (या वह सहायता करने में सक्षम है)।"
English Commentary
This is Kabandha's most crucial advice. He counsels Rama to form a 'sakhyam' (friendship/alliance) rather than fighting alone. He describes the unknown friend (Sugriva) as 'nyayya vrttena' (one of just conduct), assuring Rama that this person is worthy of friendship. 'Laghu vikramah' implies someone swift in prowess or capable of mobilizing help easily. Kabandha is guiding Rama to realize that for the search of Sita, he needs a capable ally, and that ally, once pleased ('pritah'), will willingly provide assistance.

यह कबंध का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण परामर्श है। वह राम को अकेले युद्ध करने के बजाय 'सख्यम्' (मित्रता/गठबंधन) करने की सलाह देता है। वह उस अज्ञात मित्र (सुग्रीव) को 'न्याय्य वृत्तेन' (न्यायपूर्ण आचरण वाला) बताता है, जिससे राम को यह भरोसा हो कि वह मित्र बनाने योग्य है। 'लघु विक्रमः' का अर्थ है वह व्यक्ति जिसमें पराक्रम करने की फुर्ती है या जो आसानी से सहायता जुटा सकता है। कबंध यहाँ राम को यह समझा रहा है कि सीता की खोज के लिए उन्हें एक समर्थ सहयोगी की आवश्यकता है, और वह सहयोगी मिलने पर प्रसन्नतापूर्वक ('प्रीतः') मदद करेगा।
