स विधूय चिताम् आशु विधूमो अग्निर् इव उत्थितः ।
अरजे वाससी बिभ्रत् मालाम् दिव्याम् महाबलः ॥३-७२-४॥
Sa vidhūya citām āśu vidhūmo agnir iva utthitaḥ |
Araje vāsasī bibhrat mālāmm divyām mahābalaḥ ॥3-72-4॥
Translation
Then, shaking off the pyre, that mighty one rose up quickly like a smokeless fire. He was wearing dust-free garments and a divine garland.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब वह महाबली (कबंध) धूम रहित अग्नि के समान चिता को झाड़कर शीघ्रता से ऊपर उठा। उसने धूल-रहित (स्वच्छ) वस्त्र और दिव्य माला धारण कर रखी थी।
English Commentary
This is the moment of metamorphosis. As the gross physical body is consumed, Kabandha’s subtle, divine form emerges. The comparison to 'smokeless fire' symbolizes his returned purity and brilliance. He is no longer a Tamasic demon but a Sattvic Gandharva. 'Araje vasasi' (dust-free garments) signify that celestial beings are untouched by the impurities of the mortal world. The fire has purified him, restoring him to his original resplendent state.

यह कायाकल्प (transformation) का क्षण है। जैसे ही स्थूल शरीर जल गया, कबंध का सूक्ष्म और दिव्य शरीर प्रकट हो गया। 'विधूमो अग्निर्' (धुएं से रहित अग्नि) उसकी शुद्धता और तेज का प्रतीक है। अब वह तामसिक राक्षस नहीं, बल्कि सात्विक गंधर्व है। 'अरजे वाससी' (रज/धूल रहित वस्त्र) यह दर्शाते हैं कि दिव्य लोकों में भौतिक जगत की अशुद्धियां नहीं होतीं। अग्नि ने उसे शुद्ध कर दिया है और वह अपने वास्तविक तेजस्वी स्वरूप में लौट आया है।
