Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तव भक्त्या समायुक्तो लक्ष्मणः संप्रदास्यति ।
भृशम् तान् खादतो मत्स्यान् पंपायाः पुष्प संचये ॥ ॥३-७३-१६॥
Tava bhaktyā samāyukto lakṣmaṇaḥ saṃpradāsyati । Bhṛśam tān khādato matsyān pampāyāḥ puṣpa saṃcaye ॥ ॥3-73-16॥
Translation
Lakshmana, filled with devotion for you, will offer them to you. You [will] eat those fish to your satisfaction while seated on heaps of Pampa's flowers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(हे राम!) आपकी भक्ति से युक्त लक्ष्मण आपको (वह मछलियाँ) प्रदान करेंगे। पंपा के फूलों के ढेर पर बैठकर, उन मछलियों को आप भलीभांति (भृशम्) खाइयेगा।
English Commentary
The setting for this meal is described as aesthetically pleasing—seated on 'heaps of flowers' (puṣpa saṃcaye). This contrasts the crude act of survival with the elegance befitting a prince. Lakshmana's service is driven by bhakti (devotion). The instruction bhṛśam khādato (eat abundantly/satisfyingly) suggests that Rama needs to replenish his strength significantly. Kabandha visualizes a moment of respite where the brothers can enjoy a good meal in a beautiful setting, briefly escaping the sorrow of their quest.

यहाँ भोजन के परिवेश का चित्रण है। 'पुष्प संचये' (फूलों के ढेर पर) बैठकर भोजन करना उस समय की विभीषिका में भी एक सुंदर और राजसी अनुभव का आभास कराता है। लक्ष्मण की 'भक्ति' का पुनः उल्लेख है; भोजन केवल पोषण नहीं, बल्कि प्रेम का आदान-प्रदान है। 'भृशम् खादतो' (खूब खाइयेगा/तृप्त होकर खाइयेगा) यह दर्शाता है कि कबंध चाहता है राम अपनी शारीरिक शक्ति पुनः प्राप्त करें। यह श्लोक वनवास के कष्टों के बीच भी सौंदर्यबोध (aesthetics) और भाईचारे के प्रेम को रेखांकित करता है।
