Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
साय आह्ने विचरन् राम दर्शयिष्यति लक्ष्मणः ।
अपाम् लोभात उपावृत्तान् वृषभान् इव नर्दतः ॥ ॥३-७३-१९॥
Sāya āhne vicaran rāma darśayiṣyati lakṣmaṇaḥ । Apām lobhāt upāvṛttān vṛṣabhān iva nardataḥ ॥ ॥3-73-19॥
Translation
O Rama! Roaming in the evening, Lakshmana will show you [those monkeys/animals] who have returned [to the water] out of thirst, roaring like bulls.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राम! सायंकाल में विचरण करते हुए लक्ष्मण आपको (उन वानरों/वन्य जीवों को) दिखाएंगे, जो जल के लोभ (प्यास) से वहाँ आए होंगे और बैलों (वृषभान्) की भांति गर्जना कर रहे होंगे।
English Commentary
Kabandha describes the evening routine at the lake. Animals return to the water's edge driven by thirst (apām lobhāt). The simile vṛṣabhān iva nardataḥ (roaring like bulls) is powerful; it suggests that the Vanaras (or wild beasts of the area) possess immense vocal power and physical presence. This auditory imagery adds to the wild, vibrant atmosphere of Pampa. Kabandha suggests that watching these scenes with Lakshmana will be a way for Rama to pass the time and engage with his surroundings.

यहाँ सायंकालीन दृश्य (evening scene) का वर्णन है। वन्य जीव सूर्यास्त के समय जल पीने जलाशयों पर आते हैं। 'वृषभान् इव नर्दतः' (बैलों की तरह गर्जना करते हुए) उपमा वानरों की भारी आवाज़ और शक्ति को दर्शाती है। यह दृश्य भी राम के मन को बहलाने के लिए है। 'दर्शयिष्यति' (दिखाएंगे) क्रिया बताती है कि लक्ष्मण न केवल सेवक हैं, बल्कि एक साथी भी हैं जो राम का ध्यान प्रकृति की ओर आकर्षित कर उनके शोक को कम करने का प्रयास करते हैं।
