धर्मिष्ठम् तु वचः श्रुत्वा राघवः सह लक्ष्मणः ।
प्रहर्सम् अतुलम् लेभे आश्चर्यम् इदम् च अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥३-७४-३०॥
Dharmiṣṭham tu vacaḥ śrutvā Rāghavaḥ saha Lakṣmaṇaḥ |
Praharṣam atulam lebhe āścaryam idam ca abravīt ॥3-74-30॥
Translation
Hearing her righteous words, Raghava (Rama), along with Lakshmana, experienced incomparable joy and spoke with wonder.

शबरी के धर्मयुक्त वचन सुनकर लक्ष्मण सहित श्री राम ने अतुलनीय हर्ष प्राप्त किया और आश्चर्यचकित होकर यह कहा।
English Commentary
Rama characterizes Shabari's request as Dharmishtham (most righteous). Even though suicide is generally condemned, a Yogi's voluntary exit after fulfilling their purpose is considered highly dharmic. Rama and Lakshmana feel "incomparable joy" (Praharsham atulam). It is a joy born of witnessing spiritual perfection in a humble setting. Their "wonder" (Ashcharyam) stems from the fact that such high philosophy and detachment were found in a simple forest dweller, surpassing even great scholars. It validates that true Dharma is not about caste or learning, but about the purity of heart.

शबरी के वचनों को यहाँ 'धर्मिष्ठम्' (अत्यंत धर्मयुक्त) कहा गया है। एक वनवासी वृद्धा के मुख से ऐसी उच्च कोटि की गुरु-भक्ति और देह-त्याग की शांत अभिलाषा सुनकर त्रिलोकीनाथ राम भी हर्षित हो गए। 'प्रहर्षम् अतुलम्' (अतुलनीय हर्ष) दर्शाता है कि राम को महलों में या राज्याभिषेक में वह सुख शायद न मिलता, जो एक भक्त की ऐसी निष्ठा देखकर मिला। यह प्रसंग भगवान और भक्त के बीच के प्रेम का है। राम और लक्ष्मण का 'आश्चर्य' इस बात पर है कि, एक सामान्य प्रतीत होने वाली भीलनी के भीतर कितना महान ज्ञान और वैराग्य छिपा है।
